It was a memorable day for inhabitants of Mom Orphanage Home and Stagi Cornerstone Orphanage, both in Lokoja, Kogi State as a grassroots politician, Mr Tunde Olaogun, brought joy to them during Valentine’s Day.
The children could not hide their happiness when the philanthropist mingled with them and shared some gift items to them.
Also, the management of the orphanage homes expressed gratitude to Mr Olaogun for the show of love to them, praying that God continues to protect him.
Explaining the rationale behind the gesture, the politician said, “I have been on both sides on some Valentine’s Day love fest and to be honest, both sides’ feelings are deep and emotions are high.”
“This years’ Valentine’s Day, being a working day, I have decided to take time out to spend a little part of the day with the motherless babies.
“This is essentially a decisive attempt to make these younger folks feel loved, remembered and needed even in the larger society, especially during the Valentine’s Day jamboree when everyone is spreading love,” he added.
“Let me use this medium to reiterate that I will endeavour to continue to reach out to the downtrodden no matter how little.
“This decision is in line with Christ’s belief as depicted in the scriptures in Matthew 7:7.
“Remember, the scriptures admonished us to give, and it shall be given unto us.
“This is what I represent, and what I strongly believe in,” he further said.
Mr Olaogun, a microbiologist, scientific administrator and serial entrepreneur, is the owner of Royalty Lounge and Suites located in Lagos.
