West Africa’s leading exploration drilling company, Geodrill Ghana Limited, has donated a further amount of GH₵20,000 towards the treatment of borehole water for Pearl Safe Haven shelter.
The provision of the purified water system, the company indicated, was geared towards ensuring the women in the shelter get purified water for their basic needs, adding to the sustainability of the facility, they will also be able to produce potable sachet water that can be distributed outside of the centre.
The project Manager for Pearl Safe Haven, Audrey Ankah, expressed gratitude to Geodrill Limited for the immense assistance given to them over the years.
According to her, the support by Geodrill provides a two-prong relief to the facility as the shelter would no longer be paying water bills to the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) as well as provides the basis for them to make money towards self-sufficiency.
“Geodrill has been extremely supportive of this project not only by donating but also supporting us to ensure that we are able to generate some much-needed funds to support the operations of the shelter,” Ms Ankah said.
Geodrill last year constructed a borehole water infrastructure as a donation to provide potable water for the facility.
Mr David Harper, Managing Director for Geodrill, said the assistance was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR), which prioritizes support for the socially vulnerable.
He also praised the work and dedication of the Pearl Haven team, as well as the courage of the survivors in seeking help and rehabilitation.
Geodrill has used its expertise and resources to support several initiatives that promote positive change in Ghanaian society.
The ESG driven projects have a broad scope and included the provision of power generators and borehole underground water systems to local communities, schools and orphanages in Ghana.
Pearl Safe Haven is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that provides temporary housing and support services to female survivors of gender-based violence.
