The Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye, has been retained for the position for another five years.
The reappointment of Mrs Adeyeye was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari after she impressed him in her first term in office.
This development was confirmed by the organisation via a post on its official Twitter handle, @DGatNAFDAC.
“Prof. Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye has been reappointed as the @DGatNAFDAC for the second and final tenure of five years.
“She stopped by briefly at the corporate headquarters in Abuja to meet with some Directors,” the tweet from the agency on Friday afternoon stated.
Since her appointment as the head of NAFDAC, Mrs Adeyeye has transformed the company, bringing sanity into the pharmaceutical and food sectors.
The DG obtained a bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutics in 1976 from the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) and secured M.S in Pharmaceutics in 1985 and a PhD in 1988 from the University of Georgia.
Mrs Adeyeye, who is married to Senator Olusola Adeyeye, started her career as a pharmacist at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State, and in 2017, she replaced Mr Ademola Andrew Magbojuri as the DG of NAFDAC.
