The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has debunked reports on social media that it is recruiting into the service.
In a statement issued by the Assistant Comptroller of Immigration Service Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday James, the general public should be weary of activities of fraudsters.
The statement quoted the Comptroller General of NIS, Mr Muhammad Babandede, as announcing that “there is no recruitment exercise of any sort into the NIS at the moment.”
He said “anybody making promises to anyone about possible assistance to getting employment into the NIS is deceptive, fraudulent and malicious”, warning that, “Such offers are not true and are intended to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.”
The statement said, “As a tradition, the NIS will always use credible and conventional media to inform the public of any recruitment exercise when the need arises.”
“Any request for information/enquiry about the activities of the NIS can be accessed through the following platforms: www.facebook.com/immigrationservice.nigeria, www.instagram.com/immigrationservice.nigeria, @nigimmigration or better still visit any of our formations all over the country,” the statement concludes.
