The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has warned the public to disregard information circulating in social media about an alleged recruitment exercise into the agency.
NNPC’s Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division, Mr Garba Deen Muhammad, warned that some blogs and social media accounts have made posts suggesting that the agency has begun its recruitment for 2021.
The state oil company, in a statement released on Sunday, said that it is not recruiting right now, and urged Nigerians to be wary of scammers on the internet, saying what they were seeing online are purely a fake recruitment notice.
According to the notice, “This is to inform the public that the information circulating in the Social Media that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is conducting a recruitment exercise IS NOT TRUE and the public should disregard it in its entirety.
“Whenever NNPC decides to conduct a recruitment exercise, it will announce this to the public through authentic public communication channels, including the NNPC’s website (www.nnpcgroup.com).
“Once again the NNPC is not recruiting.”
This is coming after the registration of NNPC Limited by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has been completed.
President Muhammadu Buhari had directed the Group Managing Director of the body, Mr Mele Kyari, to begin the process of incorporating the organisation in accordance with the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) he signed into law on August 16, 2021.
The NNPC is one organisation many jobseekers jostle to work because of its huge pay.
