Premier Paints Appoints Emeka Ene as Board Chairman

The chief executive of Oida Group, Mr Emeka Ene, has been appointed as the chairman of the board of Premier Paints Plc.

He was appointed alongside three other board members as non-executive directors, subject to ratification at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the organisation.

Others appointed to the board are Mr Adebowale Fagbemi, Mr John Erinne, and Mrs Doseke Apkoriaye.

Mr Ene is the immediate past chairman (E&P Committee) of the International Gas Union (IGU) for the 2022 – 2025 triennium, a past director on the board of the World Free Zones Organisation (WorldFZO), a member of the Institute of Directors, Nigeria and serves on the boards of other companies in the Oil and Gas industry.

He has also served in various capacities voluntarily locally. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council, a past Chairman of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN), past Chairman of SPE Port Harcourt Section 103 and was a member of the Presidential Task Force on Refineries reform in Nigeria.

As for Mr Fagbami, he boasts a 28-year career in the oil and gas industry that cuts across several disciplines and specialities ranging from wireline logging and perforating, formation evaluation, reservoir monitoring services, production testing operations, fast-track marginal field development, scalable gas conversion plants and project management.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria as well as an MBA from the Henley Business School of the University of Reading (UK). He is a past Chairman of the Society of Petroleum Engineers Nigeria Council and served on the Council of the Nigerian Gas Association as the Director of Communications from 2016 to 2018.

On the part of Mr Erinne, he is a Chemical Engineer of 30 years’ standing, having taken a BSc from the University of Lagos in 1977, an MSc from Strathclyde University, Glasgow, 1979 and a PhD from the University of Technology, Loughborough, UK, 1982 and has vast experience in Operations, Engineering & Technical Audits with work assignments to IOCs and Multinational Service Companies.

He is a COREN-registered Professional Engineer in Nigeria, as well as a Fellow of Nigeria Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChE) and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE). He is also a member of the Nigerian Gas Association (NGA) and the Tribology Society of Nigeria (TSN).

For Mrs Akporiaye, she has more than two decades of international leadership and governance experience spanning renewable energy, infrastructure, logistics, technology, advisory, and social impact sectors across Africa and the United States.

She is experienced in advising Boards and Board Committees on corporate governance, financial stewardship, risk oversight, and strategy execution, with demonstrated success in strengthening institutional performance, mobilising strategic partnerships, and advancing inclusive growth across emerging and established markets. She has been recognised for bringing a balanced and commercially grounded perspective across governance, operations, and development impact within complex, multi-stakeholder environments.

She holds an Executive Master’s in Business Administration from INSEAD, France, Singapore & United Arab Emirates and is currently the Executive Director, Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy (WRISE), USA, as well as the Non-Executive Director, HR Indexx, Nigeria.
