The First Vice Chairman of the Association of Securities Dealing Houses of Nigeria (ASHON), Mr Sam Onukwue, has been elected as the Chairman of the group.
Mr Onukwue, who has extensive banking and capital market experience spanning over 30 years, including service at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), several other lending institutions, took charge of the body after the statutory retirement of Mr Onyenwechukwu Ezeagu, who occupied the position for five years.
With this development, Mr Ezeagu is now an ex-officio member of the new governing council of ASHON. Others are Charles Egbunonwo of Forthright Securities and Investment Limited, Oluwadare Samuel Adejumo of Pivot Capital Limited, Olubunmi Ajayi of Sigma Securities Limited, Kolawole Thomas Oyedokun of DSU Brokerage Services Limited, and Olumuyiwa Adeyemi of Atlas Portfolio Limited.
Those in the executive committee of the group are Mr Sehinde Adenagbe as the first Vice-Chairman, Ms Ifeyinwa Ejezie as the second Vice-Chairman, amongst others.
The new chairman is a graduate of Accounting from the Yaba College of Technology, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (CFA), and the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (FCIS). He holds an MBA from the University of Lagos and an M.Sc. from Leeds University, UK.
Mr Onukwue serves on the board of many companies, top-class professional bodies and trade groups.
