Senate Gets Buhari’s Request to Reappoint Prof Obadan, Others to CBN Board

A letter has been written by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Senate seeking an approval to reappoint four persons to the board of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The nominees to the reappointed to the CBN board were drawn from four of the six geopolitical zones of the federation.

In the request to the upper chamber of the National Assembly read at the plenary on Tuesday by the Senate President, Mr Ahmad Lawan, it was disclosed that the nominees for confirmation include Prof. Mike Idiahi Obadan from South-South, Mr Adeola Adetunji from South West, Prof. Justitia Odinakachukwu Nnabuko from South East and Prof. Ummu Ahmed Jalingo from North East.

According to Mr Buhari, the nominees will serve on the board of the CBN as non-executive directors.

The President explained that his letter dated July 21, 2022, was in accordance with Section 10(3)(a) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) Act 2007.
