A budding music act, Chima, has emerged as the winner of the Nigerian Idol Season 9, beating the duo of Chioma and Lammy to clinch the grand prize.
The winning contestant and his peers thrilled the judges comprising Omawumi, 9ice, and Ric Hassani, and the viewing audience, who voted to produce the winner after some weeks of training and entertaining performances.
The grand finale on Sunday night started with a rendition of John Legend’s Glory by all the 10 contestants of the show.
The audience was later captivated by performances from the Season 7 and 8 winners of the Nigerian Idol, Progress and Victory Gbakara, respectively.
It was not the end as the organisers brought in Chike and Simi, a former judge of the programme, to serenade the guests.
With the win, Chima, who was announced as the winner by the show anchor, IK Osakidouwa, took home N30 million, a brand new SUV, a music deal with a music video, and a DSTV Explora with a one-year premium subscription.
