Popular filmmaker in the Yoruba movie industry, Mr Seun Egbegbe, has finally been charged to court over allegation bordering on theft.
Mr Egbegbe was accused of stealing about nine iPhones worth over N2 million at the famous Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos on Tuesday morning.
He was beaten by a mob, leaving him bloodied. It took the prompt intervention of policemen from Area F in Ikeja, to save him from being lynched.
The filmmaker, who is the CEO of Ebony Films Production, was once a lover of star Nigerian actress, Ms Toyin Aimakhu.
Both of them dated shortly after the marriage of the actress to a fellow colleague, Mr Adeniyi Johnson, crashed.
It was the love affair between Ms Aimakhu and Mr Egbegbe that pushed the filmmaker into limelight. They later parted ways following allegation bordering on threat to life and kidnapping.
But latest reports on the phone theft issue suggest Mr Egbegbe has been charged to court for stealing after conclusion to investigation launched into the matter by the police.
The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Dolapo Badmus, was quoted in reports to have said, “After discreet police investigation and two nights in custody, Seun Egbegbe has been charged to court for stealing.”
It was alleged that Mr Egbegbe had hypnotised a sales girl he met at the phone shop at Computer Village.
