It is a common prayer in Yorubaland that may one be blessed with good children and for Chief Sehindemi Awe Olubiyi, who is at present with the Lord; he is definitely fulfilled to have left behind good children.
On Friday, July 10, 2020, one of the notable financial analysts in Nigeria and contributors to Business Post, Dr Timi Olubiyi, was joined by his siblings, family members, friends and in-laws; including Senator Solomon Adeola, fondly called Yayi, to give his father a befitting burial.
Some of the dignitaries who graced the funeral were the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Tayo Ayinde; Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by the former Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Mr Tunji Egbetokun; Lagos State APC Organising Secretary, Mr Ayinde Enilolobo; Special Adviser (Government House) to Ogun State Governor, Mr Babatunde Olaotan; Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Ms Funmi Efuwape; a member of Lagos State House of Assembly representing Alimosho, Mr Kehinde Joseph; Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor on Politics, Mr Ayo Adeleye, among others.
They all joined the family led by the matriarch, Mrs Olubiyi, to celebrate the late son of the first Odofin of Iponda land, King David Erinopojo Olubiyi, from Ilesha, Osun State.
Chief Olubiyi, who breathed his last on April 15, 2020, at the age of 70, was buried at the Vault and Gardens in Ikoyi, Lagos, with a funeral service held at the Christ the Light Interdenominational Church in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
He lived a fulfilled life and was blessed with successful children, including Dr Timi Olubiyi, Mr Tobi Olubiyi, Mrs Temitope Adeola, who is the wife of the high-ranking Senator Adeola, the lawmaker representing Lagos West Senatorial District at the National Assembly and doubles as the Chairman of Senate Committee on Finance.
It was gathered that the event was held in strict adherence to the COVID-19 protocols of the federal government.
