Nigeria and some other Western and Central African countries, including Benin, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, and Niger, reported widespread internet service disruption on Thursday.

According to data seen by Business Post, African submarine cables like those on the West Coast of Africa to Europe such as South Atlantic Telecommunications cable no.3 (SAT-3), MainOne Cable System, West Africa Cable System (WACS), and Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) are either down or faulty.

Telecommunication companies are reportedly working to restore services. It is unclear when services will resume.

Disruptions may expand into further countries over the coming hours.

Related telecommunications and commercial disruptions are likely as some television stations could not broadcast in the country as well.

Also, other undersea cables on the East Coast of Africa to Europe such as Seacom/TGN, AAE1, EIG and others are all cut in the Red Sea.
