Cross River State Governor, Mr Ben Ayade, has disclosed that the state would float its own airline in November 2016.
Mr Ayade said the airline would be called ‘Cally Air’ and would be managed by Dana Group under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.
Speaking in Calabar, the state capital on Monday while receiving a consortium of Indian investors, the Governor said the new venture was to boost tourism investment drive in the state.
Mr Ayade said the airline would fly Calabar, Obudu, Lagos and Abuja routes.
“We have our own state’s aircraft currently in Aero Contractors’ fleet in Lagos.
“The management of Dana Airline has agreed to do a detailed technical study of the aircraft before it commences commercial flight operations,” Mr Ayade said.
In his remarks, Managing Director of Dana Group, Mr Jackies Hartmani, applauded the joint partnership between his group and the state government.
He said, “My company is very impressed with what Governor Ayade is doing to transform the state in terms of investment and we are committed to ensuring the success of the partnership.”
