Ecobank Unveils Adire Lagos Exhibition to Promote Culture, Tourism

Residents of Lagos will have the opportunity to see varieties of the popular Adire attire when Ecobank Nigeria Limited holds the Adire Lagos Exhibition next week.

In April 2022, the financial institution supported the maiden Adire Market Week at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Due to the success recorded, the lender is promoting the local fabric in Lagos through the event themed EPAC Adire Lagos Experience to take place at the Ecobank Pan African Centre (EPAC) in Lagos from Friday, June 10 till Sunday, Jun 12, 2022.

Expected to grace the occasion are the First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun; the CEO of Adire Oodua Textile Hub and founder of Africa Fashion Week, Princess Ronke Ademiluyi;  Iya Oloja of Abeokuta, Adire Market; the CEO of Dye Lab, Ms Joke Ladoja; the Creative Director, Afume Global Concepts, Mrs Funmi Sosanya; and the CEO, Aga Culture & Upbeat, Moyo Ogunseinde, among others.

The Executive Director, Commercial Banking, at Ecobank Nigeria, Mrs Carol Oyedeji, while commenting on the forthcoming festival, stated that the programme was designed to boost tourism, culture and the creative industry using Adire as a key driver.

She stated that the three-day exhibition will have different music genres of Yoruba origin; an infusion of local food; and a mild atmospheric branding infusion of a wide variety of Adire into the setting to create a nostalgic mood. The festival will attract exhibitors, expatriates, influencers, dignitaries from all walks of life and members of the general public.

“The EPAC Adire Lagos Experience is in line with our brand promise as a Pan African Institution that delivers value to all its stakeholders. We will continue to curate experiences customized to peoples’ lifestyles whilst promoting the richness and diversity of our nation’s culture.

“The event will feature a series of masterclasses and exhibitions, as well as networking opportunities with entrepreneurs, shoppers and everyone who is interested in the making or trading of Adire. We promise a cosy ambience and utmost serenity to make participants feel comfortable and safe,” she stated.

Landmark Group to Operate Nike Lake Resort Enugu for 35 Years

A deal has been sealed between the Enugu State government and the Landmark Group for the transformation of the Nike Lake Resort Hotel.

The company, owned by serial investor, Mr Paul Onwuanibe, will revamp the facility and operate for 35 years on lease.

The Governor of Enugu State, Mr Peter Mbah, expressed optimism that Landmark Group would use the hotel to boost tourism sector of the state.

He explained that his administration decided to work with Mr Onwuanibe’s organisation as part of his commitment to transforming Enugu into a global destination for investment and tourism, noting that Nike Lake Resort remains a key government asset that need efficient management to flourish.

“Nike Lake Resort is not just a hotel; it is a symbol of Enugu’s hospitality and tourism potential.

“This partnership reflects our vision to create an environment that fosters investment, job creation, and economic growth,” Mr Mbah remarked.

The Governor said Nike Lake Resort Hotel could position Enugu as a preferred destination for both domestic and international visitors while boosting the state’s economic development.

On his part, Mr Onwuanibe expressed gratitude for the opportunity to manage the iconic hotel and assured the government of delivering world-class services.

He also emphasized the potential of the hotel to serve as a major tourism hub, creating employment opportunities for the youth and revitalizing Enugu’s tourism sector.

While signing the deal with the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Mrs Adaora Chukwu, the Landmark Group boss said the initiative should boost the local economy and attract approximately 3 million visitors annually.

Recall that in 2024, the popular beach resort operated by Landmark Group in Lagos was demolished by the federal government to make way for the controversial Lagos to Calabar Coastal Road.
