About 7,000 teachers are expected to be employed by the Oyo State government in public primary schools in the 33 local government areas of the state.

Also, the state government intends to recruit not less than 100 caregivers into the special needs sub-sector in the state, the Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OyoSUBEB) Mr Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, informed newsmen in Ibadan over the weekend.

He told journalists at the state capital that, “In fulfilment of his electoral promise and the yearnings of the people of Oyo State, occasioned by the gap of teachers in our public primary schools, Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the recruitment of 7,000 teachers in our public primary schools. In addition, he also approved the recruitment of 100 caregivers in our special schools.”

He explained that the general public was informed of the proposed recruitment to avoid misleading information by scammers, appealing to intending applicants not to fall victim to fraudulent people, and to be wary of fraudsters.

Mr Adeniran stressed that the board has not appointed anyone to be its agent, adding that the organisation has just started preliminary work on the recruitment process.

“The stages to follow to have a free, fair, credible exercise will emanate from this Board, signed by me,” Adeniran said, advising applicants not to hesitate to come to the board for enquiries and not rely on third-party information.

“No staff member has been empowered to collect money from applicants,” he reiterated, thanking Mr Makinde “for living up to his words.

He said at the next stage, the agency would announce when applicants could apply, saying the organisation is working with other relevant agencies for a seamless exercise.
