The disruption in services experienced by customers of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) Limited last week has been resolved, the financial institution has confirmed.

Last week, customers of the bank could not carry out banking services as a result of the glitch, which GTBank attributed to “an unusual power surge.”

GTBank customers, as a result of the issue, could not receive or send funds during the period, as its mobile application, GTWorld, was also affected, leaving most of them frustrated.

However, over the weekend, the company restored its services and customers were able to carry out financial transactions with ease.

In a message to customers on Monday, GTBank apologised for the “inconvenience” the service disruption caused, thanking them for their “understanding and for bearing with us during the disruption.”

The lender said immediately it noticed the glitch, it “immediately set to work to minimize the impact” of the issue on customers, who trust the company for its excellent banking services.

“We would like to sincerely apologize for every inconvenience you have experienced whilst using our services recently.

“We understand that you rely on the availability of our services to carry out transactions that are important to your daily lives and your business operations, which is why we take very personally our commitment to continuously deploy resources to ensure that our service uptime is 100 per cent, round the clock, every day of the week.

“Unfortunately, we experienced an unusual power surge. We immediately set to work to minimize the impact of this unexpected surge on our services and we were able to get our channels back up.

“We know the trust you place in us when you choose to bank with us, and we do not take this for granted.  Once again, we apologize for every inconvenience.

“We thank you very much for your understanding and for bearing with us during the disruption,” the message obtained by Business Post read.
