An entertainment company, GHills Entertainment Ltd, has dragged Union Bank to court on matters relating to infringement.
According to GHills Entertainment Ltd, in the suit marked FHC/L/CS/659/2015, alleged that Union Bank Plc infringed on its intellectual property tagged, ‘The Stage Campus Tour’.
The firm told a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos that Union Bank allegedly stole its concept after it introduced the idea to the old generation financial institution.
GHills Entertainment Ltd explained that it introduced the concept aimed at driving youth products to Union Bank in 2014 and was in discussion with the bank until February 2015.
However, the showbiz firm alleged that the bank went behind its back to use the concept without carrying it along or paying it its dues.
The company claimed to have discovered the alleged infringement of its intellectual property by Union Bank sometime in March 2015.
But the bank had denied the allegation and filed a counter-claim against the entertainment company.
However, in response, the entertainment company said, “The Defendant states that the name ‘Union Vibe Campus Tour’ is an imitation of our ‘The Stage Campus Tour’.
“The counter-claimant already had the defendant’s proposal, intellectual property, idea, concept, recommendations, and activation plan with the name ‘The Stage Campus Tour’ before sending a brief to Maverick Equinox Ltd.”
After hearing from both sides, the court adjourned further proceedings till January 13, 2017.
