The year 2017 saw a lot of events, growth and education in the Independent PR Monitoring and Measurement Industry in Nigeria.

Here are some of the highlights of 2017.

  1. Public Relations Measurement awareness in Nigeria grew from 25 percent in 2016 to 37 percent in 2017, with 19 percent usage of PR Measurement program.
  2. 2017 witnessed a remarkable increase in acceptance of the ‘non-validity’ of AVE and also saw a huge drop in the demand for AVE from clients.
  3. P+ Measurement Services hosted the AMEC Measurement Month in Nigeria, where Communications, Public relations and Marketing professionals were educated on the importance of valid metrics and why they should ‘Say No to AVE’
  4. The Nigeria Insurance sector through CAMCONIA threw its weight behind valid PR metrics, by engaging P+ Measurement Services to educate her members on the Importance of PR Measurement and Evaluation program in its Marketing and Communications campaign.
  5. The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) took the lead by investing energy into the campaign for valid metrics by inviting the Lead Consultant of P+ Measurement Services, Philip Odiakose, to educate PR and Communications professionals on the importance of Media Measurement and Evaluation in Digital Media Campaign during the NIPR annual PR summit in 2017.
  6. 2017 saw Nigeria lending her support for the Global Campaign for good measurement by pledging to comply with the Barcelona Principle 2.0.
  7. There was a decrease in the percentage of people with Misconceptions of The Barcelona Principle 2.0 as a Measurement tool instead of a guideline to a PR measurement program, through our relentless education programs.
  8. The Media Monitoring & Measurement agencies in Nigeria in 2017, experienced a colossal increase in ‘Fake News’ (which is one of the most serious challenges facing the media industry today) amongst clients media coverage.

P+ Measurement Services continued the campaign against the industry denounced AVE in Nigeria and the need for PR agencies to stop marking their own homework, the reason being that media analysis conducted by any organization of its own work lacks independence and objectivity.

P+ Measurement Services is led by Philip Odiakose, a Measurati and an advocate of the Barcelona Principle 2.0 and valid PR Metrics.

‘We intend to grow the awareness of good PR measurement in Nigeria and its application to 50% in 2018’ and also debunk the myth that Public relations cannot be measured,’ he said.

The second edition of the Ibadan Chops and Chills Festival held on December 1, 2024, received the backing of Rite Foods Limited.

It was a platform for young entrepreneurs, food vendors, and entertainers to showcase their talents and promote the rich cultural heritage of Oyo State in particular, and Nigeria in general.

Rite Foods used the event to foster growth and innovation among enterprising youths in society in demonstration of its commitment to youth empowerment and community engagement.

The Corporate Communications Manager at Rite Foods, Mr Innocent Adulugba, said, “As a manufacturing company driven by innovation, Rite Foods Limited believes in the power of young people and the importance of providing platforms that enable them to showcase their skills and talents.”

“The Ibadan Chops and Chills Festival aligns with our mission to inspire, support, and add value to talents and entrepreneurs across Nigeria,” he added.

“Rite Foods Limited recognizes the Ibadan Chops and Chills Festival as a platform for growth and that is why the company is here today to leverage support so the participating food exhibitors can benefit via joint marketing efforts, co-promotions, and expanded distribution channels under one roof,” Mr Adulugba stated.

“We are partnering with food vendors to offer consumers a more comprehensive and enjoyable experience, such as pairing beverages like Bigi, Sosa or Fearless with complementary food options of their choice,” he noted.

Also speaking, the convener of the programme, Ms Chinwendu Festus of Wendy’s Kitchen, said, “The first edition of Ibadan Chops and Chills was a success, which inspired us to aim higher this year.

“Our goal is to provide young people with the space to showcase their culinary talents, grow their businesses, and connect with a broader audience.”

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Ms Wasilat Adefemi Adegoke, stated, “This initiative is one of the best I have seen. It aligns perfectly with our administration’s goals of empowering the youth, promoting cultural heritage, and fostering talent.”

It was gathered that the festival featured cooking competitions, entertainment shows, guest tours and vendor exhibitions, which highlighted the diversity and ingenuity of participants and the diversity of food options on display.

The popular noodle brand in Nigeria, Indomie, has been named the Best Social Responsibility Brand of the Year at the prestigious Nigerian Marketing Awards.

At the event held on November 23, 2024, at the Jewel Aeida, Lekki, Lagos, the company clinched the award for its meaningful and lasting impact on society.

According to the organisers, Indomie was specifically recognized for its thrilling but highly impactful community initiatives in the year 2024, particularly through its impactful Indomie Heroes Awards, a nationwide search exercise that seeks to dedicated to identifying, celebrating, and rewarding the heroic efforts of children aged 15 and below.

The Indomie Heroes Award initiative stood against two other top contenders, First Bank of Nigeria for its Spark Initiative and O2 Academy for the Hit and Run Campaign, which were the first and second runners-up, respectively.

In addition, Indomie made the honours list as one of the six brands that received the Iconic Brand of the Year recognition.

This esteemed award pays tribute to brands that have consistently served the Nigerian community, upheld a legacy of excellence, and maintained an impeccable reputation over the years.
