A search operation is being conducted at the Lagos head office of Dangote Group by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to multiple reports, the anti-graft agency stormed the premises of the conglomerate on Thursday to request documents regarding the allocation of foreign exchange (FX) to the firm by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) under its former Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele.
Mr Emefiele was removed from office in June 2023 and was charged to court over allegations bordering on fraud. He was granted bail but remained in Kuje Correctional Centre until a few days before Christmas when he perfected his bail conditions.
It was gathered that Dangote Group is not the only company the EFCC is investigating over forex allocations by the CBN in the last 10 years.
Details later.
