NASD Exchange Closes Flat amid 50.89% Drop in Turnover

The first trading day of the week at the NASD Over the Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange closed flat on Monday, September 23, 2019 as both the NASD Security Index (NSI) and market capitalization remained unchanged from their quoted data last Friday.

The market capitalization saw no increase nor decrease as it ended on Monday at N505.91 billion while the NASD Security Index (NSI) retained 704.19 points as it was quoted at the end of trading on Friday at the market.

However, the total volume of trades went down by 51,081 units or 50.89 percent to 49,300 units on the first trading day of the week. This was lesser than the 100,381 units recorded at the last session, when the traded volume rose by 592 percent.

Notwithstanding, the total value of trades went up yesterday by N8 million or 125.19 percent from N6.4 million last Friday to N14.4 million at the end of Monday transactions.

Less deals were executed on Monday, as there was a total of five deals executed compared with the seven deals transacted last Friday, indicating a decline by two deals or 28.57 percent.

The top of trades position by volume (year to date) was still held by Food Concept Plc with a total transaction of 1,158,797,004 units valued at N843.97 billion, while UBN Properties followed with 891,085,220 units worth N1.21 billion.

Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc also retained top spot in terms of value by year-to-date with 202,272,698 units worth N2.53 billion transacted from the beginning of this year till yesterday, with UBN Properties following on the list with 884,529,600 units of its stocks sold for N1.2 billion.
