NASD Exchange Gains 0.05% Monday to Sustain Growth

Trading activities resumed on the floor of the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange on Monday on a positive note with a marginal 0.05 per cent growth at the close of business.

This was influenced by a market bellwether, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Plc, which appreciated by 30 kobo or 0.3 per cent to settle at N118.30 per share compared with last Friday’s closing price of N118.30 per share.

As a result and in the absence of a price decliner at the session, the NASD unlisted securities index (NSI) moved up by 0.35 points to 750.37 points from 750.02 points, while the market capitalisation gained N300 million to wrap the day at N635.40 billion compared with the previous N635.10 billion.

In terms of the activity level, the trading volume went up yesterday by 269.6 per cent as a total of 767,309 units of shares exchanged hands compared with 207,618 units transacted at the preceding session.

In the same pattern, the trading value went northwards by 192.4 per cent to N31.3 million compared with the previous day’s N10.7 million, while the number of deals witnessed a 100 per cent increase as a total of 14 deals were carried out compared to the seven deals carried out last Friday.

At the close of trades, Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc maintained its position as the most active stock by volume (year-to-date) as it has traded 1.6 million units of its shares for N32.1 million. Friesland Campina WAMCO Nigeria Plc was in second place as it has so far traded 202,702 units of its stocks valued at N23.9 million, while Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc was in third place with 28,289 units valued at N6.7 million.

The most active stock by value on a year-to-date basis was also CSCS Plc with the sale of 1.6 million units worth N32.1 million, followed by Friesland Campina WAMCO Nigeria Plc with the sale of 202,702 units worth N23.9 million, and NDEP Plc with the sale of 28,289 units valued at N6.7 million.
