The unlisted securities market in Nigeria depreciated marginally by 0.02 per cent on Tuesday, with NASD Plc contributing to the loss.

The company’s stock went down by N1.33 or 11.0 per cent yesterday to trade at N12.09 per unit compared with the previous day’s N13.42 per unit.

This loss overshadowed the 0.4 per cent or 50 kobo growth posted by FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, which settled at N118.50 per unit versus N118.00 per unit of the preceding session.

At the close of transactions, the market capitalisation of the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange fell by N100 million to N629.94 billion from N630.04 billion, while the NASD unlisted securities index (NSI) declined by 0.12 points to close at 743.92 points as against 744.04 points it finished a day earlier.

Data showed that the volume of securities transacted by investors yesterday depreciated by 70.7 per cent to 362,800 units from the 1.2 million units transacted at the previous session.

However, the value of shares traded by market participants appreciated by 429.6 per cent to N22.6 million from the N4.3 million achieved on Tuesday.

In the same vein, the number of deals executed by investors increased by 66.7 per cent to 10 deals compared with six deals achieved a day earlier.

At the close of trades, Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc remained as the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with a turnover of 653.7 million units sold for N13.7 billion. NASD Plc came next with 2.9 million units valued at N49.0 million, while Dufil Plc came in third place as it has so far traded 2.0 million units valued at N18 million.

Also, CSCS Plc was the most active stock by value (year-to-date) with a turnover of 653.7 million units valued at N13.7 billion, VFD Group Plc trailed with 916,161 units worth N331.5 million, while Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc was in the third place with 279,523 units traded for N65.8 million.
