The Commissioner for Police in Akwa Ibom State, Mr Waheed Ayilara, has died at a hospital in Lagos.
According to reports, the senior police officer passed away in the early hours of Thursday after a surgery on Wednesday.
It was gathered that he underwent prostate cancer surgery yesterday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja, however, he succumbed to the illness.
Recall that in November 2023, Mr Ayilara became the acting Commissioner of Police in Lagos after the deployment of AIG Idowu Owohunwa from the state.
He was later deployed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Kayode Egbetokun, to Akwa Ibom State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in February 2024.
