The immediate past Governor of Delta State, Mr Ifeanyi Okowa, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The former vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was apprehended by the agency on Monday and taken into custody in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He was alleged to have embezzled funds to the tune of N1.3 trillion while he was in office.
Mr Okowa was accused of using his position to loot the state’s funds to acquire shares in UTM Floating Liquefied Natural Gas Company and other assets in the energy sector.
He is at the Port Harcourt office of the EFCC answering some questions on the matter, multiple reports said.
