President Bola Tinubu will address the nation on Monday, July 31, 2023, at 7 pm, a terse statement from the Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications and Strategy, Mr Dele Alake, has said.

This is coming a day after some alleged hoodlums raided a government warehouse in Adamawa State, citing hunger and growing hardship in the land as the reason behind their action.

Since President Tinubu removed the fuel subsidy in May 2023, the cost of goods and services has been on the rise, leaving many citizens frustrated.

The government of Mr Tinubu has repeatedly appealed to Nigerians to endure more hardship for a while, promising that things would soon begin to be well again.

However, some have said the government itself has not shown they are willing to make sacrifices as they have urged the citizens to do, especially because they have not made efforts to reduce the cost of governance.

Organised labour has threatened to embark on a national protest this week because the government has not sincerely shown how it plans to alleviate the sufferings of the citizens.

Apparently worried that things may go out of hand if nothing is quickly done, the President said he would talk to Nigerians this night.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will make a broadcast to the nation on Monday, July 31, 2023, at 7 pm.

“Television, radio stations and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast,” the short statement from Mr Alake said.
