President Bola Tinubu has been charged to prioritise the interest of Nigeria by reintroducing himself to the citizens to put a closure on the identity crisis trailing him.

This appeal was made by the candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, Mr Peter Obi, at a world press conference in Abuja on Wednesday.

The true identity of Mr Tinubu had become a source of controversies and was made messier last week when the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the same exercise, Mr Atiku Abubakar, forced the Chicago State University to release the academy records of the President after a court order.

Addressing newsmen today, Mr Peter Obi said the issue, which has gained global attention, was becoming embarrassing to the nation, noting that people now see Nigerians as fraudsters because of President Tinubu due to the fact that he cannot come clean.

“He should re-introduce himself to the nation he governs no matter what he is and erase the further doubt and embarrassment he has given to the country.

“He should let the world know his name, nationality, place of birth, parentage, and the primary and secondary school he attended with dates as well as the actual universities he attended and certificates obtained; he should indicate clearly where and where he did his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC),” he said.

Mr Peter Obi added that, “The country should be led by a responsible and well-known president. The country should be known for its integrity, morality, values and the rule of law that defines the character of a nation and its capacity. The national community deserves to know the true identity of the person in whom they will engage Nigeria.”

According to him, “Uninformed outsiders now see Nigerians as fraudsters, certificate forgers, and identity thieves because of Bola Tinubu.”
