Some lawyers staged a peaceful protest in Abuja on Monday to kick against the arrest of some judges by operatives of the Department for State Services (DSS).

The lawyers, in their large number, took to the streets of Abuja, calling on the DSS to stop intimidating the judiciary.

The demonstrators carried placards with various inscriptions, including ‘nobody is above the law, rule of law must be respected’, ‘attack on judges who granted bail on bailable offences against government wish is an attempt to silence the judiciary’, ‘we reject the plot to intimidate the judiciary’ among others.

Few weeks ago, the DSS stormed homes of some judges in Rivers State on the allegation that they are corrupt.

The move has been greeted with mixed reactions, with some saying the executive was attempting to cow the judiciary.

Here are pictures from the protest.
