Eligible candidates have been urged to apply for the short vocational training programs put in place by the management of Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) to provide youths in the state with industry relevant skills that could help them gain possible employment and advance in life.

Tagged the Lagos State Employability Support Project (LSESP), the initiative is in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and is open to residents of Lagos State between ages 18 – 35 years.

To participate, prospective students will have to register for the vocation training and skills acquisition courses, which will be provided by selected Vocational Training Centres in the state and implemented by Arc Skills, a globally recognised skills training provider.

While trainings are completely free, applicants are required to show proof of their residence in Lagos State by providing their Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) number.

Interested participants are also expected to have successfully completed Junior Secondary School and can visit the project website, www.lsesp.ng, to register or pick up an application form from the nearest LSETF Liaison office in any of the Local Government Secretariats.

“With focused training of applicants and revamp of vocational studies in Lagos State, we are confident that this initiative will go a long way to address unemployment among youths in Lagos State. These trainings will also address capacity building and job demands in both private and public sectors,” he said.

On his part, Team Leader of Inclusive Growth Unit, UNDP, Mr Robert Asogwa, “This is a major step for development in Lagos and Africa by extension. It is the most reliable means of eradicating unemployment in Lagos state, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is proud to be a partner of great initiative.”
