By Modupe Gbadeyanka
There is a growing anxiety over the state of health of a popular Nigerian gospel singer, Mr Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, otherwise known as ToluwaniSings.
News emerged on Wednesday afternoon that he slumped at his residence and was taken to hospital for attention. He was said to have fallen down the stairs of his house in Ibadan after complaining of tiredness.
The music act reportedly performed in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday night at one of his colleagues’ programmes, In His Presence, a popular monthly gospel worship and praise event hosted by Nigerian gospel singer and praise leader Bidemi Olaoba.
There are unconfirmed reports that he may have passed away. But there is another conflicting report that he was involved in a road mishap, and it is not certain whether he survived it. Some months ago, he was involved in a road accident with his band members.
A popular lawyer and ally of Bidemi Olaoba, Mr Pelumi Olajengbesi, wrote, “My God! What a life! No, Lord! We plead for Your mercy upon Toluwani Sings.
“I am deeply troubled by the deaths of young men and women. This is not God’s plan for us. We say no to untimely death!”
However, an entertainer, Woli Agba, wrote, E joor now. Please hold on. Please don’t conclude. We are trusting God. Please!”
