South African club, Mamelodi Sundowns, have won the 2016 CAF Champions League after beating Egyptian giants, Zamalek.

Sundowns played the second leg of the competition’s final in Egypt, losing 1-0 to Zamalek, but their first leg 3-0 win was enough to make them king of African club football with a 3-1 aggregate score line.

With the win on Sunday, the Brazilians, as they are fondly called, become the second team in South Africa to clinch the coveted CAF Champions League title, after their rivals Orlando Pirates, which won it in 1995.

Also, coach of the Bafana Ba Style, Mr Pitso Mosimane, becomes the first South African local coach to lift the trophy.

At the second leg of the two-legged final on Sunday, October 23, 2016, Zamalek could only score a second half goal from the three-goal deficit they suffered from the hands of the Downs in the first leg played last weekend in Pretoria.

The South African outfit will now represent Africa at the Club World Cup in December 2016, where they will slug it out with other continental club competition champions.
