One of the world’s major operators, equipment manufacturers, system integrators and software vendors of the telecom industry, ERCOM, has announced his intention to participate in the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) led by Intel, Facebook, DT, SK Telecom and Nokia.

Ercom joins others in the telecom industry to connect the next billion people to the Internet.

TIP is an engineering-focused initiative that aims to reimagine the traditional approach to building and deploying telecom network infrastructure.

“The growth of the internet and the rise of data-intensive services like video and virtual reality require all participants to collaborate on the development of new technologies, rethink how we deploy existing technologies, and focus on simplicity, flexibility, and efficiency in everything they do.

“TIP will explore new approaches and technologies across three initial focus areas: access, backhaul, and core and management. The project groups within these areas will leverage the unique engineering and operational expertise of each member. They will focus on developing new technologies and exploring new approaches to deploying in both developed and emerging markets,” it said.

Ercom, an acronym of Engineering Réseaux Communications, which is based in France, says it “will bring TIP membership its knowhow and disruptive solutions to change the way we test, deploy, manage and secure networks.”

“Ercom provides the first cloud-based solution for 4G, 5G and IoT network emulation and optimization. With a 100% software solution delivered on generic IT hardware, our teams have already been exposed to the new telecom paradigm Facebook is looking after through the TIP initiative” declared Yannick Dupuch CEO of Ercom.

“We will all benefit from the various expertises the different players bring, to deliver accelerated time-to-market and cost-efficient infrastructures of the future to offer the next 4 billion people with a network coverage,” the CEO added.
