AIBS Holds ‘Digital Survival Workshop’ for Entertainers

A free seven-day workshop for entertainers has been organised by the American Internet Business School (AIBS).

The workshop was put together by AIBS to help artistes, musicians, comedians, producers, and entertainment executives navigate through the new normal caused by COVID-19.

Since the outbreak of the virus in Nigeria in March 2020, the federal government has placed strict restrictions on the gathering of more than 20 persons.

This has made it impossible for show promoters to organise events, thereby keeping entertainers out of jobs for nearly three months.

Founder and CEO of AIBS, Dr Ope Banwo, explained that he came up with the workshop as part of a digital business empowerment and awareness initiative for the entertainment industry.

At the unveiling from his base in the United States of America (USA), Mr Banwo said the free seminar is targeted at operators of the entertainment industry.

He said the online training tagged Digital Business Survival Workshop, will hold from Monday, June 29 to Saturday, July 4, 2020.

According to him, the event will avail attendees the opportunity to learn digital business strategies that any creative artiste or executive can tap into to create multiple streams of additional income for their brand, creative works and fan base.

“The American Internet Business School recognises that even before the COVID-19 pandemic came and decimated the finances of many individuals and companies in virtually every industry, many creative artistes have struggled to understand how they can generate extra income from their talents, artistic catalogue and huge fan base without the investment of capital, technical skills or digital business experience.

“While most serious creative artists, entertainers, and executives do have some impressive presence online, most have barely scratched the surface of the amazing potential of the internet to multiply the returns on their creative assets and brand and create sustainable levels of income that will far outlast their active days as creative artistes.

“This first of its kind seven-day Digital Income Survival Workshop, complete with real time case studies of how some of the strategies have been successfully applied in the global marketplace, will provide a simple step by step blueprint that creative artistes, actors, actresses, musicians, producers, and executives can follow in using the internet to create multiple income streams for themselves through their talents, catalogue, brand and fan base,” the serial internet entrepreneur said.

Highlighting the schedule of the workshop, Training Director at AIBS, Ms Nancy Hicks, described the workshop as a special post-COVID-19 economic survival palliative programme to provide the much-needed strategies for digital monetisation to the highly resourceful and talented members of the entertainment industry.

According to her, AIBS invites all members of the entertainment industry to attend the seven-day free breakthrough workshop and get introduced to some very simple streams of digital income that have been specially customized for members of the entertainment industry.

“Every day, for three hours, during the seven days conference, Dr Banwo and a team from the American Internet Business School will be breaking down one digital business income stream peculiar to the entertainment industry and providing attendees with the blueprint on how they too can get started in monetizing their skills, creative assets, and fan base as entertainers or entertainment executives.

“The seven-day workshop is free for all musicians, actors, actresses, producers, comedians, executives and anyone connected with the entertainment industry, but everyone must pre-register to lock down their spot since the digital training room they would be using can provide access to 100 participants only,” she stated.

Training areas during the programme include Affiliate Marketing Income Stream For Creative Industry, Info Marketing Income Stream For Entertainers, Freelancing Income Stream For Creative Artistes, Celebrity Dropshipping Income Stream, Celebrity Membership Sites Income Stream, and Social Media Income Stream For Entertainers.

Affirming the fact that there is indeed a lot to be benefitted from the workshop, Dr Banwo said, “This is the time for all members of the creative industry to take the ability to generate multiple income streams from their talents, creative assets and fan base to the next level. We encourage everyone involved in the industry to come and benefit.”

“The primary objective of AIBS is to provide modular internet-based training in the form of online and live training, recorded training and home study courses for doing business on the internet,” he added.

AIBS is renowned for equipping businesses and individuals on how to maximise their productivity and profitability on the internet.

It is a bold, well-told story that centres African women, African realities, and the kind of cross-border narratives that reflect the continent’s shared experiences.

Led by a standout performance from Osas Ighodaro, the film flips familiar narratives by placing women at the heart of a revenge story shaped by trauma, survival, and justice. Directed by Asurf Oluseyi and executively produced by Burna Boy, the film moves across multiple African countries, using its scale to spotlight the realities of human trafficking without losing emotional depth. Its strong storytelling, cultural relevance, and ambition make 3 Cold Dishes one of the most notable African films of late 2025 and a deserving AMVCA contender.

Mother of the Brides

Africa Magic delivers another hit with Mother of the Brides, a Lagos family drama full of heart, humour, and tension. When their father dies without a will, a matriarch has just 45 days to marry off one of her four daughters or risk losing everything to tradition and scheming in-laws. Her mother works tirelessly to keep the family together amid pressure from relatives and society.

The film doesn’t just show weddings and family drama; it also highlights the darker side of titled families in Nigeria, exposing secrets, power struggles, and the lengths people will go to protect their interests. With strong performances from Gloria Anozie-Young, Kalu Ikeagwu, Linda Ejiofor, Uche Chika Elumelu, and Ibrahim Suleiman, Mother of the Brides delivers laughs, tension, and storytelling, making it a clear standout for AMVCA attention.

Baby Farm

Mo Abudu and EbonyLife hit another high note with Baby Farm, a gripping drama series that shines a light on the dark world of “baby factories.” Starring Rita Dominic and Onyinye Odokoro, the film follows a young woman lured into a prestigious Lagos NGO only to uncover a sinister trafficking ring. Heavy, intense, and impeccably executed, Baby Farm combines blockbuster production quality with socially relevant storytelling, the kind of film that has the power to dominate the AMVCA nominations.

My Father’s Shadow

A cinematic landmark, My Father’s Shadow is the first Nigerian film to grace the Cannes Official Selection. Directed by Akinola Davies Jr., the story follows two young brothers reconnecting with their elusive father against the backdrop of 1993 Lagos. With a powerhouse performance from Sope Dirisu, the film is a poetic exploration of family, memory, and a nation on the brink of change. Its visual storytelling, direction, and performances make it a strong contender for technical and acting awards.

Over 1,000 creators, storytellers, innovators, and digital entrepreneurs from across Africa were brought together in Lagos recently for the 2026 African Creators Summit organised by Facebook.

The event was put together by the social networking platform to brainstorm on how to share the future of the continent’s creative economy.

It was also to empower participants with tools and resources to reach wider audiences, build meaningful communities, and earn sustainably from their content.

It was the second consecutive year Facebook is delivering a dynamic creator experience that reinforced its ongoing commitment to Africa’s growing creative economy.

As the platform with the largest network of people who can reach a massive audience, Facebook has always been about connection and continues to empower creators to connect more deeply with actual people and earn real money across all the content formats they share.

Some of the notable creators at the summit were Abiri Tobi Festus (Folagade Banks), Ify’s Kitchen, Nons Miraj, Nancy Umeh, Lolo Mbakara, Broda Shaggi, Gilmooree, Jenni Frank, Cute Abiola, One Khan, and King – Ana, among others.
