FrieslandCampina Extends Loss at NASD OTC Exchange

The NASD Over the Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange closed the last trading session of the week in the negative territory, with the key market performance indicators pointing south by 0.93 per cent.

As a result of this, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) depreciated by 6.74 points to end the day at 717.43 points in contrast to the preceding day’s 724.17 points.

Also, the market capitalisation went down by N4.85 billion to close at N514.76 billion as against N519.61 billion it finished a day earlier.

The day’s bearish environment was activated by N4.96 or 3.9 per cent decrease in the shares of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, closing at N122.90 per unit compared to N127.86 per unit it ended on Thursday.

Business Post reports that the market did not record any price advancer on Friday.

There was a 67.6 per cent rise in the number of shares transacted by investors during the session to 1.1 million units from 662,817 units, but the value of the transactions reduced by 15.6 per cent to N29.4 million versus N34.9 million recorded at the previous session.

In the same vein, the total number of deals executed also went down by 47.37 per cent as 10 deals were performed at the exchange as against 19 deals of the previous day.

These deals were executed on FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc (seven deals), Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc (two deals) and Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc. (one deal).

In terms of the volume of shares traded by investors on a year-to-date basis, UBN Property Plc was the most active with the sale of 15.5 million units valued at N16.8 billion. CSCS Plc trailed with 4.5 million units worth N70.8 million, while FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc held the third position with 2.2 million units worth N275.1 million.

By value (year-to-date), FrieslandCampina topped the chart with 2.2 million units valued at N275.1 million, NDEP Plc has sold 557,901 units worth N182.4 million, while CSCS has traded 4.5 million units for N70.8 million.
