Our Operations not Disrupted by Workers’ Protest—Berger Paints

The management of Berger Paints Plc has assured shareholders and members of the public that the protest by some of its employees in Lagos has not affected operations.

A statement issued by the firm explained that the demonstration was limited to its head office on Oba Akran Road in Ikeja, Lagos.

“The company maintains several outlets nationwide through its franchise partners, all of which are open for business as usual,” Berger Paints said in the statement signed by Oluseun Oluwole, the Company Secretary/Legal Adviser.

“Following the new development in respect of pension schemes, the board of Berger Paints Nigeria Plc, had fixed December 2015 as the exit date of the company’s gratuity scheme.

“This had been communicated to the staff in the course of several meetings and the management had provided some concessions and allowances and indicating this through a peaceful strike action, which is restricted to out head office.

“The management would like to assure the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and investing public that these demonstrations, which are restricted to its head office, will not have any adverse effects on the company’s operations,” the firm said.

Recall that on Monday, employees of the company staged a protest, demanding the firm to reverse its decision to stop payment of gratuity of those on its payroll. READ IT HERE
