TVC Fires 145 Workers

No fewer than 145 employees of Television Continental (TVC) have been laid off by the firm, Business Post can report.

The affected workers were disengaged by the management on Friday morning.

TVC is a private broadcast station located in Lagos and is run by Continental Broadcasting Service (CBS) precisely tucked inside an estate in Ikosi Ketu area of Lagos metropolis.

As at the time of filing this report, our correspondent could not ascertain the main reason for the mass sack. Also, no member of the station’s management was ready to speak with our correspondent when questioned.

TVC is rumoured to be owned by National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Bola Tinubu.

It is one television outfit that is competing well with Channels TV, arguably adjudged to be the best television station in Nigeria.

It was set up few years ago and within the short time, it has endeared itself into hearts of many Nigerians, who enjoy their various programmes, including ‘Your View’, ‘Journalist Hangout’, ‘The Big Issue,’ ‘Fireworks’, Flight 101’, ‘TVC Breakfast’ among many others.

Our correspondent reports that the sack has left the affected members of staff devastated as most of them never saw it coming.

They were called to report to the office this morning, where they were welcomed with the unfortunate news.

TVC is the sister station of Radio Continental, also run by CBS.

The station boasts of highly intelligent employees, some of who have moved on to become media aides to Governors and top politicians in the country.
