Diamond Bank Director Chizoma Okoli Joins Access Bank Board

The Executive Director in charge of Business Development at Diamond Bank Plc, Mrs Chizoma Okoli, has joined the board of Access Bank Plc.

Business Post reports that last week, a federal high court sitting in Lagos approved the merger between Access Bank and Diamond Bank.

Ostensibly to protect the interest of Diamond Bank in the new entity, Mrs Okoli has been drafted into the board of Access Bank.

“We are very delighted to welcome Mrs Okoli to the board of Access Bank. She brings on board very deep banking industry and board room experience relevant to our bank.

“Her appointment will no doubt improve the skill set and diversity of our board and support our quest to become the world’s most respected African bank and Africa’s gateway to the world,” the Group Managing Director of Access Bank, Mr Herbert Wigwe said of the appointment.

Mrs Okoli, whose appointment has been approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), began her banking career as an Executive Trainee in the Operations Unit of Diamond Bank Plc in April 1992 and later joined the Commercial Banking Unit of the Bank in 1996 rising to the position of Branch Manager of Adeola Hopewell (flagship branch) of the Bank in 2003.

She was the Head, Corporate Banking Directorate until her appointment as an Executive Director in the bank in Septmber 2016.

A 1989 Law Graduate from the University of Benin, Mrs Okoli was called to the Nigerian Bar in December 1990. She also has an MBA from the Warwick Business School, Coventry, UK.

She has attended various courses in Nigeria and abroad, including the distinguished Advanced Management Program of the Wharton Executive Education, University of Pennsylvania and the Senior Management Program of the Lagos Business School.

Mrs Okoli is an Honorary Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.

Oil Records Fourth Monthly Gain over Swelling Demand
