In the coming weeks, WhatsApp users will be able to make video calls with filter and background features, Meta, the parent company of the popular messaging platform, has disclosed.
In a statement on Tuesday, the firm stated that the filters feature would allow users to create a more playful atmosphere like a splash of colour or create a more artistic feel for the video.
It also stated that the background feature would enable WhatsApp callers to change their surroundings to what suits them, noting that conversations on the platform “should always feel fun and expressive.”
With 10 filters and 10 backgrounds to choose from, users can select and mix a wide range of options to create a unique look.
The Filter options include Warm, Cool, Black & White, Light leak, Dreamy, Prism light, Fisheye, Vintage TV, Frosted glass and Duo tone, while the background options include Blur, Living room, Office, Cafe, Pebbles, Foodie, Smoosh, Beach, Sunset, Celebration and Forest.
To access these features during a one-on-one or group video call, users are expected to select the effects icons on the top right of the screen to see the selection of filters and backgrounds and choose the one that suits the mood.
“We’re also adding Touch up and Low Light options that can help you feel more confident and comfortable by naturally enhancing the look and brightness of your environment, making your video calls more vibrant and enjoyable,” the firm stated.
