A poultry processing mill has been constructed in Umuomainta community in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State.

Minister of Agriculture, Mr Audu Ogbe, while handing over a motorised borehole with overhead plastic tank to the community, expressed his excitement over the decision of the Abia State government to site a poultry cluster in the area, which will in turn feed the mill.

The Minister, represented at the occasion by his State Director, Mr Ebere Simeon Oziri, also gave the community a motorised borehole.

He explained that previously, the Federal Government was constructing hand pumps for the communities, but when it could not contend with the complaints associated with the hand pumps, it introduced motorised boreholes.

The Minister appealed to the community to embrace the spirit of maintenance culture and ensure that the borehole will not be abandoned or vandalised.

He also appealed to the leadership of the community not to exploit the beneficiaries, pointing out that the Federal Government constructed the borehole to be free of charge, unless in a situation where the generator will need to be refuelled, little amount of money should be introduced but not to the detriment of the beneficiaries.

In his response, traditional ruler of Umuomainta-Nbawsi, Mr Christopher Ihemegbulam Ebere, expressed happiness that his community has benefited from the benevolence of the Federal Government.
