NASD OTC Exchange Loses 0.10%, Index Now 1,101.31 Points

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange recorded a 0.10 per cent depreciation on Thursday, April 25 after the Unlisted Security Index (NSI) dropped by 1.15 points to wrap the session at 1,101.31 points compared with 1,102.46 points recorded at the previous session.

Also, the market capitalisation of the NASD OTC Exchange lost N1.57 billion during the session to settle at N1.508 trillion compared with the preceding day’s N1.509 trillion.

The decline recorded on Thursday was buoyed by FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc, which fell by N1.38 to trade at N61.23 per unit, in contrast to the N62.61 per unit it ended at midweek.

On the flip side, NASD Plc gained N1.25 to end at N14.25 per share compared with the previous session’s value of N13.00 per share, and Afriland Properties Plc increased its value by 37 Kobo to close at N11.15 per unit versus Wednesday’s price of N10.78 per unit.

Yesterday, there was an 8.5 per cent increase in the volume of securities traded by investors to 159,857 units from the 147,279 units traded a day earlier, but there was an 83.6 per cent slump in the value of shares traded yesterday to N13.0 million from the N79.4 million posted the previous day.

These transactions were executed in 17 deals compared with the 20 deals carried out in the preceding trading session, representing a decline of 15 per cent.

At the close of transactions, Aradel Holdings Plc was the most active equity by value on a year-to-date basis with a turnover of 3.8  million units valued at N7.5 billion, followed by Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc with the sale of 45.2 million units for N1.3 billion, and Capital Hotels Plc with 228.6 million worth N1.1 billion.

In the same vein, Capital Hotels Plc closed the session as the most traded equity by volume on a year-to-date basis with 228.6 million valued at N1.1 billion, trailed by IPWA Plc with the sale of 79.9 million units for N40.0 million, and Mixta Real Estate Plc with 69.9 million units worth N114.6 million.
