The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange closed the last trading session of the week in the bearish territory by 0.72 per cent on Friday, July 15.
The NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) lost 5.6 points to settle at 772.08 points compared with the previous day’s 777.68 points, while the market capitalisation depreciated by N7.37 billion to finish at N1.016 trillion as against the previous day’s N1.023 billion.
This was caused by the decline in the share prices of two of the market bellwethers, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc and Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc.
FrieslandCampina went down by N2.03 to close at N102.50 per unit compared to N104.53 per unit of the previous session, while CSCS Plc declined by 70 Kobo to close at N13.81 per unit in contrast to Thursday’s value of N14.51 per unit.
When the NASD OTC bourse closed for the day, the total volume of securities transacted by investors depreciated by 92.6 per cent to 47,081 units from 632,000 units, the value of transactions went down by 70.7 per cent to N2.7 million from N9.1 million, while the number of trades declined by 15.4 per cent to 11 deals from 13 deals.
AG Mortgage Bank Plc finished the trading day as the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with the sale of 2.3 billion units worth N1.2 billion, CSCS Plc also retained the second spot with the sale of 675.7 million units valued at N14.1 billion, while Food Concepts Plc was in third place for trading 146.5 million units valued at N127.2 million.
Similarly, CSCS Plc maintained its position as the most active stock by value on a year-to-date basis with a turnover of 675.7 million units valued at N14.1 billion, VFD Group Plc was in second place with 11.1 million units worth N3.3 billion, while FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc retained the third place with the sale of 12.0 million units valued at N1.5 billion.
