One of the players in the insurance industry in Nigeria, Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc, has announced a new registrar.

A statement issued by the company disclosed that it has chosen Apel Capital Registrars Limited as its new registrar, replacing Meristem Registrars and Probate Services Limited.

In the notice signed by the company secretary, Ide Ibitayo, the reason for the change was not specifically disclosed but the firm said the appointment of Apel became effective September 2021.

“Mutual Benefits Assurance wishes to inform its valued shareholders, investing public and key stakeholders

that the company has appointed a new registrar, Apel Capital Registrars Limited.

“The appointment takes effect from September 2021.

“Apel Capital Registrars Limited will replace Meristem Registrars and Probate Services Limited,” the disclosure filed to the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited said.

Apel Capital is a company based in Lagos and it is also one of the trusted firms in the nation’s capital market as Meristem, the immediate past registrar of the insurance company.

Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc is a general and life insurance company in Nigeria providing services for underwriting and risk management as well as retail services.

It commenced operations in 1995 with the principal objective to render qualitative insurance and risks management services.

It joined the exchange on May 28, 2002 and becoming a public liability company on May 24, 2001. At the close of business yesterday, its share price closed flat at 32 kobo after trading 8.3 million equities worth N2.5 million.
