The sum of N200 million has been given to the Adamawa State government by the management of BUA Group through the BUA Foundation.
The donation was given by the company to enable the state government fight coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic in the state.
In addition to the cash gift, the organisation also donated three ambulances to the state government for the same course.
While presenting the gift items on Tuesday, an executive of BUA Group, Mr Aliyu Idi Hong, stated that the donations were in line with the firm’s promise to work with Nigeria and support Nigerians in fighting the pandemic.
He further added that BUA remains committed to its social obligations everywhere it operates and will continue to assist various efforts across Nigeria and Africa.
Responding, the Governor of Adamawa State, Mr Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, expressed his appreciation to the Chairman of the BUA Foundation, Mr Abdul Samad Rabiu, for fulfilling a pledge to support the state in its fight against COVID-19.
He also appreciated the organisation for heeding the Adamawa State government’s call for support and commended.
While confirming the receipt of the funds in the state’s COVID-19 response account, the Governor assured that the state will put the ambulances and donations to good use in fighting the impact of the pandemic in Adamawa state.
Since the start of the pandemic, BUA Group has committed over $20 million in cash, foodstuff, medical supplies and infrastructure towards various initiatives to assist the fight against the virus.
