President Muhammadu Buhari, on Saturday, joined other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 23 state Governors to endorse the choice of Mr Rotimi Akeredolu as the governorship candidate of the party in the November 26 gubernatorial elections in Ondo State.
The President, while addressing a large crowd of party supporters at the grand finale of the candidate’s campaign in Akure, said he was delighted in the free and fair manner in which the party’s primaries was conducted.
Senate President, Mr Olubukola Saraki, in his remarks, enjoined the people of Ondo to align themselves with the ruling party in the country. He also advised them to guard against making any mistakes while casting their ballots on election day.
National Chairman of the APC, Mr John Odigie Oyegun, on his part urged Ondo residents and indigene to come out enmasse and vote massively for the APC.
The Imo State Governor, who doubles as the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Mr Rochas Okorocha, said the upcoming governorship election in Ondo State is an opportunity to liberate the people from what he described as “political bondage.”
Also, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, who doubles as the Chairman of the party’s mobilisation and campaign for the Ondo election, in his address, described Mr Akeredolu as one person in whom the core values of the Afenifere group resides.
While assuring Ondo electorates of better governance, if elected, Mr Akeredolu, the gubernatorial candidate of the APC, said job and wealth creation through agriculture, infrastructural development and industries remain top on his agenda for moving the Sunshine state forward.
