Former GTBank MD Joins Stanbic IBTC Bank Board

An alumnus of the Advanced Management Program of Harvard Business School, Mr Wale Oyedeji, has been appointed to the board of Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc.

Mr Oyedeji is joining the board of the financial institution as an independent non-executive director following the receipt of all required regulatory approvals.

A statement from the lender disclosed that the appointment of the Bachelor of Science degree holder in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ibadan is with effect from Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

He served as Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) UK between 2008 and 2011 and was appointed to the board of GTBank in October 2011, where he served as executive director for the corporate bank group and contributed immensely to the growth of their business until his retirement in August 2018. Prior to joining GTBank in 1994, he worked with Ernst & Young, Lagos, for two years.

The chief executive of Stanbic IBTC Bank, Mr Wole Adeniyi, while expressing the excitement of having the experienced banker to the board of the financial institution.

“The board is pleased to welcome Mr Wale Oyedeji to the board of the bank and will undoubtedly benefit immensely from his wealth of experience,” the bank chief said.

Mr Oyedeji, who has a Master of Science degree in Financial Economics from the University of London, is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and an associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

He is armed with over 25 years of banking experience across corporate banking, treasury, and commercial banking.
