Unlisted Securities Market Closes 0.59% in Positive Territory

The unlisted securities trading on the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange ended on a positive note on Monday, February 20, with a 0.59 per cent appreciation.

The growth was boosted by two stocks, which bolstered the market capitalisation of the bourse by N5.53 billion during the session to N941.47 billion from N935.94 billion.

In the same vein, they raised the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) by 4.2 points to wrap the session at 716.48 points compared with 712.28 points in the previous session.

According to data from the exchange, FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc topped the gainers’ chart after it improved by N1.55 to close at N68.00 per share, in contrast to last Friday’s value of N66.45 per share.

On its part, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc gained 50 Kobo to trade at N14.00 per unit compared with the previous session’s N13.50 per unit.

On the activity chart, there was a surge in the volume of securities traded at the bourse by 499.5 per cent as investors exchanged 36.6 million units compared with the previous trading day’s 6.1 million units.

However, the value of shares traded during the session dropped to N33.7 million, 97.4 per cent lower than the N1.3 billion posted in the last session.

These transactions were executed in nine deals compared with the 23 deals completed last Friday, indicating a 60.9 per cent depreciation.

At the close of business, Geo-Fluids Plc remained the most traded stock by volume (year-to-date) with 334.8 million units valued at N332.0 million, UBN Property Plc stood in second place with 264.0 units worth N222.0 million, while VFD Group Plc was in third place with 6.2 million units valued at N1.4 billion.

Conversely, the most traded stock by value (year-to-date) was VFD Group Plc with a turnover of 6.2 million units worth N1.4 billion, Geo-Fluids Plc trailed with 334.8 million units worth N332.0 million, while UBN Property Plc was in third place with 264.0 million units valued at N222.0 million.
